Donate Books

I saw this on the Book Arts list and wanted to pass it on.

Seeking Book Donations
The New Orleans Public Library
(New Orleans LA)

The New Orleans Public Library is asking for any and all hardcover and
paperback books for people of all ages in an effort to restock the shelves
after Katrina. The staff will assess which titles will be designated for
its collections. The rest will be distributed to destitute families or sold
for library fundraising. Please send your books to:
Rica A. Trigs, Public Relations
New Orleans Public Library
219 Loyola Avenue
New Orleans, LA 70112

If you tell the post office that they are for the library in New Orleans,
they will give you the library rate which is slightly less than the book
rate.

Thank you for the information about book donations. This need hadn't crossed my mind, and since I read at least a book a week I have several to donate!

Thanks, Jen, for that info, I will use it...I always have books to donate. I have been giving them to the Book Man in San Diego who sends them all over the world, really a good place to leave books, even text books. I had a ton when my mom passed away and didn't want the regular charities to put them in the dumpster, which one of them said they did...so I was glad to find him.

We are building bookcases right now, but I know we have more books than we'll have room for. I'll keep this in mind & send some too. Thanks for the info on links too!

Jen, thanks for posting the info about the New Orleans library - buying fabric and books are my two favorite vices - and while I have a hard time parting with them (something I AM trying to overcome! but think I need a 12 step program!), I would love to help with this project and will start pulling a box of books together to send. It will be good for me as well as the library!
