Postcards

Here are a few of the postcards I made and sent. I didn't make them all the same, but I did have some repeats. The assignment was to pick a favorite artist and make something in that style. It was a lot of fun. I deliberately picked some works that you don't see on the calendars all the time. Can you guess which artist was the inspiration?

Georgia O'Keeffe perhaps? I love the simplicity of the designs: they work really well for postcards.

O'Keefe is my guess, too. These are great, Jen!

My first reaction was O'Keefe then I saw the first one again and thought Andy Goldsworthy, but I think O'Keefe.

Very nice!

I love them Jen. I think O'keefe has been on lots of calendars, so I think that wouldn't be right. I think maybe more of a cubist? Don't know who though. I like that it isn't obvious to us all. Inspired by don't mean 'copy of' someone's work. I did a quilt called 'Aurora Dance', & had come up with the idea while drinking my morning coffee from a Barbara Lavallee mug. When I met her, I showed her the quilt that her work had inspired, & she was surprised that it didn't look anything like her piece. She said she never would've guessed she had inspired me.

Can I say I meant doesn't!? I guess I should read through again before I hit publish!

I have just started doing fabric postcards, Jenny. Would you like one from New Zealand to cheer you up while you wrestle with your illness?
