Sketchbook Quilt

City Slickers. Posted by Hello

I did this fast little quilt (journal size) on Friday night. It was great fun. I enjoyed the speed and the hot, bright colors, although I'm not sure it feels like "me".

This piece is great, too. I think mit doesn't feel like "you" because the colors and design are somewhat similar to Mrs. Mel's. Nothing wrong with an inspired piece every now and then though... After all, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. I've been trying to do a piece like hers ever since I took her class last September, but no luck yet.

I just went back and read Lisa's comment.
I think what makes it look like me is the all color all the time aspect. Here I thought I was evolving to more of a limited color palette and yet I still am drawn to ALL THE COLORS AT ONCE.

Anyway, as I have mentioned before, we are destined to be girlfriends... so much alike.

I love the exuberent sense of color, it is so joyful and full of life. I'm pretty sure I'm feeling the influence of my on-line pal Mrs. Mel :)
I know I will find my voice, I just have to keep working, working, working. Jen

I love this piece. I love the shapes, I love the construction. I love the color.

It does look a bit like Mrs. Mel's stuff, and I'm sure that's the all the colors all the time palette you chose. Would love to see this done again in your own palette.
